25 teenagers came together this summer in August to participate in Genesee Co-op’s first “Money and Me” Program, in a joint financial education effort sponsored by the CU, the Credit Union Association of New York and the NY Credit Union Foundation. We were at full capacity (plus one), making our class one of the largest in New York State!! The students who attended ranged in ages from 13 to 18. We had CU members, non-members, homeschoolers, high-schoolers and even a few college bound young adults! The feedback from attendees has been very positive and it was a positive experience for the teachers, as well. We want to express a very special thank you to Jessica Wilcox, who volunteered her time as one of our teachers, and to Jessica Rodriguez here at the CU, who coordinated our participation in the program and taught as well. Money and Me was both a huge success and helped us meet our goal of financial education for our members. We’d like to do it again so keep an eye out for future financial education programs!
