As of 10:00 AM on Friday September 18th, our systems are still down. Our provider has let us know that we should be receiving some access to the system today--so we are hopeful that by tonight we will have access to more information.
Once our core system provider completes the restoration process, the credit union will have access to account information. Access to digital banking products (i.e., Home Banking and the mobile app) will remain unavailable. Once all credit unions have been restored on the core system, the focus of our core system provider will then shift to bringing back up the digital products.
Our dedicated staff is still here to answer questions and assist our members as best as they can. We truly appreciate your patience and understanding as we work through this situation and will continue to keep you updated as we learn more.
P.S. Thank you for the love and support we have received from our members!
• ACH Withdrawals & Checks: The payment recipients willreceive payments as normal during the time we are down. Please note thatACH and check withdrawals will process when our system comes up on youraccount.
• Debit Cards Transaction: You can still use your Co-op debit card for limited purchases up to $500 of most kinds. Recurring debit card transactions will need to be retried when the system is up in most cases. Please call us if you are having a problem and we will try to troubleshoot with you.
•ATM Withdrawals: up to $500 of your balances are available. Balance inquiries will not function and will generate an error message.

• Online & Mobile Banking: Currently offline while our provider works to restore access.
• Shared Branching is unfortunately not available at this time.
Your Questions Answered
What Happened?
Our core banking provider, Sharetec, experienced a significant infrastructure failure at the data center that hosts their systems. The issue was caused by equipment damage following a cooling system failure at the facility. This resulted in an outage affecting more than 200 credit unions nationwide.
While this has affected the availability of certain services, the recovery effort is focused on preserving the integrity of member account information. In other words, the priority is making sure your account information is correct when systems are restored.
Is my money safe?
Yes. The core banking system provider, has let us know there has been no data breach and no unauthorized access to member information. The disruption was caused by a data center infrastructure failure and not by unauthorized access to systems or member data.
What about my direct deposit?
Although system access has been affected. Genesee Co-op receives and maintains electronic deposit and withdrawal files from our banking provider. Those files are housed on separate systems and are preserved.
Why is restoration taking so long?
Our core banking system provider is taking a careful approach to ensure account information is accurate before each system is returned to service. While we all want services restored as quickly as possible, protecting the integrity of member accounts is the top priority.
What services are affected by this outage?
Access to accounts via online banking and our mobile app is not available during this outage. Credit Union staff do not have access to account information during this outage.
For members using BillPay:
Any transactions that were scheduled prior to the outage (9/15/26) processed. New payments or payments scheduled for after that date or in the afternoon on 9/15, these transactions will process once our systems are restored.
For members with automatic payments or checks coming out or deposited at the the Credit Union:
If you have set up an automatic payment with another institution to come out of your Genesee Co-op account, the payment will post to that other institution’s account. For example, you have a store credit card, and you went to their online account and set up a payment to be made from your credit union account, you will see the payment post to that store credit card account. Once our systems are restored, that payment will debit your Genesee Co-op account.
